Reydon Primary School celebrates the arts with “Reydon Festival”

Reydon Primary School recently hosted its inaugural "Reydon Festival". The festival, an exciting outdoor end-of-year event, brought together all year groups and celebrated the diverse talents of its children.

The uniqueness of the festival lay in each class's preparations for the event, using books from the "Little People, Big Dreams" series to explore the lives of celebrated musicians. This exploration served as a catalyst for creative writing and artworks that were displayed at the festival.

Each class also chose to highlight a popular artist during a performance, from Shakira in Reception to The Beatles in Year 6, resulting in a spectacular showcase of talent and creativity.

Martyn Payne, Executive Headteacher, expressed: "Our first-ever Reydon Festival was a resounding success, embodying the spirit and ethos of our school. It brought together our entire school community, and I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved for making the festival such a memorable occasion."

The school, which is part of The Active Learning Trust, is committed to nurturing musical talent and has worked hard this year to expand its music provisions. With specialised teaching in Year 3 and Year 4 for glockenspiel, percussion, and flute, and weekly singing assemblies for Year 1 through to Year 6, the school provides ample opportunities for children to explore their musical interests.

In addition, the school has been actively involved in community events, such as the ‘Reydon Christmas Lights Switch on’ and the Wentworth Woods opening, fostering a sense of community spirit and further showcasing their commitment to the arts.

Chief Executive Officer at The Active Learning Trust, Lynsey Holzer, said: "I am delighted to see that Reydon Primary School has ended the school year on a high note with their music festival. Events such as these are a fantastic way to bring everyone together and create lasting memories for our children. Well done, everyone!"

The event proved to be a fantastic way to unite the school community and celebrate the achievements of the school's budding musicians and performers.
