Opportunity to provide long-term education solution for Wisbech

Responding to the need to create a new school in Wisbech, the Active Learning Trust, a successful education trust already running 21 schools in Cambridgeshire and Suffolk, is pleased to confirm its bid to open a brand-new school, providing education for children from four through to 18 years.

Our plans have been developed in close discussion with Cambridgeshire County Council, meeting the immediate demand for secondary school places in Wisbech, whilst also satisfying the long-term need for primary school places.

Our plans for the new school include:

  • Starting with a Year 7 intake of up to 120 students in September 2020
  • Rolling out year groups growing to 1,050 students in the secondary phase and sixth form
  • Opening of the school’s primary phase in 2023/24
  • The initial primary intake will offer 60 places for each year group with up to 420 students overall as it grows

As a Trust, we have a proven track record in opening successful new schools including Littleport and East Cambridgeshire Academy in 2017 and The Isle of Ely Primary Academy in 2014. Under our leadership, schools within our Trust have delivered significant impact on standards and outcomes for children in the region, achieving consistent progress in Ofsted ratings and academic results.

Our plans encompass the immediate need for secondary school places in Wisbech as well as a long-term call for primary place.

With this in mind we are asking for you to support our bid to provide a new school that is fit for purpose, addressing both the short and long-term concerns.
