School celebrates opening of new library

Students at Neale-Wade Academy in March are enjoying a new library space which opened at their school this term.

The former library has been moved to an open mezzanine area which is bright, airy and inviting.

The new area features a stylish lighting design, modern décor and comfy seating and has been designed to offer students an area where they can read or alone or work with their peers.

The layout encourages students to find new titles that they can enjoy reading for pleasure, as well as texts that will support Neale-Wade’s reading curriculum.

The new space is proving a great success so far, with over 100 books being lent out to Neale-Wade students this term.

Students have been nominated as librarians to support the running of the library and to take on jobs, such as categorising and shelving the books.

The young librarians are a mix of academic prefects and those students who have demonstrated an outstanding contribution towards the library. Currently in post are Daniel, Evie and Nico from Years 7 and 8.

The academy’s reading associates, Sharon Wass and Briony Horn, have also been instrumental in the launch of the new library.

Neale-Wade is very grateful to the March Education Fund which donated £3,000 towards the new library project. The academy has spent this money on new books.

“Our new library marks an exciting milestone for Neale-Wade and we are delighted to be able to provide them with such a welcoming environment.

We hope this new library space will be a place where students can learn, explore and develop a lifelong love of reading and we look forward to seeing students make it their own.

I would like to thank our student librarians and our reading associates, Sharon Wass and Briony Horn, for all their dedication and hard work in launching this new library space.

The academy is also very grateful to the March Education Fund for their generosity and investment in our young people and their future.”
