Chantry Academy's first-ever school trip to Northern Ireland a great success
Year 11 students from Chantry Academy in Ipswich have returned from the secondary school’s first-ever school trip to Northern Ireland.
The three-day residential trip, which took place earlier this month, was a great success, with 25 students exploring world-famous geographical and historical sites. Sites visited included Giant's Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, Portstewart Strand, Glenariff Forest Park, Titanic Museum and Titanic Quarter in Belfast.
The aim was for students to learn about geography beyond the classroom, and topics covered included urban regeneration, industrial development and shipbuilding, coastal erosion and environmental issues. Students also noted that some of the landscapes they visited are featured in the television series Game of Thrones.
“My favourite part of the Northern Ireland trip was seeing how varied the landscape is across the UK - it was amazing!"
Oskar, Student
“We are proud that our students were excellent ambassadors for Chantry, demonstrating their enthusiasm, curiosity and excellent behaviour throughout the visit. Trips like these support learning ahead of GCSEs and, crucially, show our commitment to providing enriching educational experiences for our students. We look forward to continuing to work hard to inspire all our students.”
