Primary pupils join "Senior Blues" at Portman Road
Hillside Primary School took part in a special event at Ipswich Town Football Club to help tackle loneliness in the older generation.
The Hillside school choir sang a range of songs to the older Ipswich Town supporters, known as the Senior Blues. They also chatted and enjoyed making Christmas cards.
The children were pleased to showcase their singing talent and said the event helped them to feel part of the local community in the town.
The Senior Blues programme is a free-to-attend scheme designed to provide an inclusive environment for older adults (generally aged 50+) to socialise, meet new people and share their experiences as Ipswich Town supporters.
Sessions are held in the Hall of Fame Restaurant at Portman Road stadium and include light physical activity, health and wellbeing activities, quizzes, games and the chance to share club nostalgia. Ex-players sometimes attend to talk with participants.
“We are delighted that our school choir was able to take part in this event, helping to spread some joy and goodwill.
Their performance not only showcased our pupils’ singing talent, but also reflected their enthusiasm, commitment and team spirit. We hope that we will be able to visit the Senior Blues again!"
