Local MP opens Reydon Primary School's new nursery
The new nursery at Reydon Primary School has officially been opened by local MP, Jenny Riddell-Carpenter.
Pupils, parents and staff including Active Learning Trust’s CEO, Lynsey Holzer, were delighted to welcome Jenny Riddell-Carpenter MP to open the new nursery on Friday 6 February.
The new nursery is in a completely refurbished building, complete with new facilities and equipment. Sessions are led by a qualified teacher and the large space provides different areas for the children to explore sand and water, painting and creating, reading, role play, construction, mark making as well as a large outdoor area complete with mud kitchen, bikes and much more.
The design also includes a strong emphasis on natural materials and neutral colour pallets. Frequent visits to the main school building take place so that children feel familiar with the whole primary school.
The nursery has been open to children for just three weeks and there has been an enthusiastic response from the local community already. There are spaces for more children to join and flexible sessions and all-day sessions are available, with the option to have lunch provided.
Active Learning Trust previously secured £150,000 through the school-based Nursery Capital Grant to redevelop the nursery site.
“It was a pleasure to open this fantastic new nursery at Reydon Primary School and to see first-hand the difference high-quality early years provision makes for children and families.
Thanks to the Government’s school-based Nursery Capital Grant, schools like Reydon Primary are able to invest in modern, welcoming spaces that give children the very best start in life. This is a real boost for families in Reydon and the wider Southwold area.”

“We are very pleased that the new nursery has been so warmly welcomed by the local community. It’s clear that there is great demand for early years provision in the Reydon and Southwold area and we are delighted to be able to welcome pupils to our family of schools and nurseries.
Thank you to Jenny Riddell-Carpenter MP for taking the time to celebrate this positive moment with us. We look forward to meeting more local families soon.”
