World Book Day celebrations at Red Oak

Red Oak embraced World Book day with enthusiasm. In addition to the traditional dress up as their favourite character or non fiction text we did a whole school afternoon class swap.

Each classroom had a different genre of books, within each timed swap, the children explored the class genre of books and discussed with a partner the different features of each text type.
Teachers also swapped to read their favourite book with another class at the end of day and the children shared how they felt about the different genres they had explored and gave reasons to support their favourite book choices.
Some children found that they had discovered a whole new genre that excited them!
