Primary pupils ‘outstanding’ performance of Matilda packs school hall
Pupils at the Albert Pye and Ravensmere Schools Federation in Beccles packed the school hall and wowed two evening audiences with their performance of the famous musical Matilda.
Children from Years 1 to 6 within the Albert Pye and Ravensmere Federation have been rehearsing for the past three months to ensure a slick and polished performance.
The production, which has brought together pupils from across the school, began rehearsals in the spring term, with children committing to weekly evening rehearsals alongside their normal school day and other commitments.
The pupils’ performance was praised by the Norfolk and Suffolk Music Hub, with the hub’s contact for educational settings, Krista Ribbons describing the show as an “outstanding production”.
The production was led by two members of the school’s staff, Miss Grint and Ms Wilkinson, whose dedication played a key role in bringing the production to the Albert Pye and Ravensmere stage.
Staff were hugely proud of the commitment shown by the cast throughout the rehearsal process, with the production becoming a real whole-school effort.
"Our pupils excelled themselves with this amazing performance of Matilda which was an absolute joy to watch. From our youngest performers in Year 1 through to our Year 6 pupils, every child has shown real commitment and enthusiasm throughout the three months of rehearsals.
We were especially proud of the tremendous praise the children’s talented performance received from the Norfolk Music Hub. We are hugely grateful to Miss Grint and Ms Wilkinson for the passion, time and care they have invested in supporting the children every step of the way of this show.”

“I was honoured to attend this production of Matilda and to see firsthand the singing, dancing and acting talent of the children in this school. I am incredibly proud of all the children involved and would also like to thank the staff for their hard work behind the scenes and all our families for their support.”
