Primary school proud to lead local festival parade

Grove Primary School was very proud to lead Lowestoft's First Light Festival Parade on Saturday 20th June.

The parade was a celebration of creativity, collaboration and community, as part of Lowestoft’s arts festival celebrating the sunrise.

Before the big day, Year 5 pupils at Grove Primary had taken part in a special workshop to create wearable items for the parade, based on the smallest creatures found in the sea.

They then shared their skills with younger children at the school during lunchtime sessions, helping them to create colourful flags for the parade.

The Grove children were then delighted to be a part of Saturday’s parade on the Lowestoft seafront.

“As a school, we value community spirit very deeply and are always looking for opportunities to support our local town."
Rachel Kounnas, Headteacher at Grove Primary School

Also taking part in the celebrations was Red Oak Primary School, whose pupils and parents joined the parade. In addition, Red Oak's Year 6 pupils made models of the 13 different full moons that shone in our sky over the last year. These were featured as part of a wider community art installation on the sea front during the festival.
