Work begins on redevelopment of nursery at Reydon Primary School

Work has begun on the redevelopment of a nursery in Reydon near Southwold, offering local families much-needed childcare and pre-school places.
The former Brambles Day Community Nursery closed its doors in December 2023, but the site will soon be bustling once again with children, thanks to the Active Learning Trust.
The East Anglian based multi-academy trust, which oversees 19 schools, has secured £150,000 through the school-based Nursery Capital Grant to redevelop the nursery site.
The new nursery, which will be part of Reydon Primary School and The Active Learning Trust, will open in January 2026.
The closure of Brambles was a major blow to local families, after the company which ran it, Alpha Nurseries based in Ipswich, announced financial problems.
“We were delighted to have been successful in our bid for a grant to redevelop this nursery site and it is wonderful to see that refurbishment work is already underway.
“We know that there is much demand for this early years provision in the Reydon and Southwold area and we cannot wait to open our doors to serve the local community in January.
“The Active Learning Trust has high aspirations and strives to make sure that all our pupils feel safe in our ‘family’ of schools and nurseries and we look forward to welcoming a new cohort of young children in the coming months.”
Lynsey Holzer, CEO, Active Learning Trust
Parents and carers who are interested in places for their children at the new nursery should contact the school on 01502 723084 or email office@reydonprimary.org for more information.
