Ofsted inspectors praise close-knit and welcoming village primary school

Earith Primary School is proud to announce the results of its latest Ofsted report, following an inspection in July.

In a glowing report, inspectors say that Earith Primary is a close-knit and welcoming community where the children feel valued and included and are happy and safe. 

The Ofsted report praises leaders at the school for establishing a caring and ambitious culture where pupils’ welfare is prioritised. It also highlights the school’s broad curriculum with its focus on reading, writing and mathematics.

Children get off to a strong start in the Early Years, inspectors say, settling quickly into a welcoming and nurturing environment where they are ready to learn. Pupils go on to achieve well in national curriculum tests and are well prepared for the next stage of their education.

The Ofsted report notes that attendance at Earith Primary is very high and that pupil behaviour is good. The children take an active role in school life, with every pupil having a job or holding a responsibility such as being a librarian or monitor.

Pupils also enjoy extra swimming lessons at the on-site swimming pool, knowing how important this skill is on account of their community being surrounded by water. 

The inspectors highlight that inclusive teaching at Earith Primary sees pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) getting the right support and able to take part fully in school life. 

The Ofsted report also notes that parents are positive about the school, value the strong relationships they have with staff and appreciate the care shown towards their children.

The inspectors conclude that the school is at the standard expected of a high-performing school in five of the seven areas measured and is at a ‘strong standard’ in Early Years provision and in Personal development and wellbeing.

The Earith Primary inspection was carried out in July under the new Ofsted framework, which means that schools are no longer given one-word judgements. Instead, they are graded across a range of areas on a five-point scale, with ‘expected standard’ being the new benchmark for high-performing schools.
