Lowestoft primary to become a flagship school for inclusive education
Westwood Primary School in Lowestoft is proud to announce that it has been highly acclaimed by the prestigious Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) for its expertise and knowledge in inclusive education and praised for its “superb” commitment to inclusive education.
Westwood Primary has retained its status as an IQM Centre of Excellence for the third year running and has now been recommended for IQM Flagship School status.
This move comes in recognition of how well the school is doing in terms of inclusive practice and will see them sharing their knowledge and expertise with other schools as a Flagship School of best practice.
The IQM is a national and international accreditation which evaluates the work schools and other education providers do to ensure equal opportunities for all pupils regardless of age, background or special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
Recommending that Westwood becomes a Flagship School, the IQM assessor said that the school fully meets the standard required to maintain its status as a Centre of Excellence for the third year in a row on account of its “relentless pursuit” of improvement and for moving from “strength to strength in terms of its superb inclusive practice.”
The Active Learning Trust is also delighted to report that another of its Lowestoft schools, Grove Primary School, has also retained its IQM Centre of Excellence status for the third year.
The IQM assessor said that Grove Primary fully meets the standard required to maintain its status as a Centre of Excellence for the second year in a row and praised the school for its “strong culture of joyful pride”, where pupils are enthusiastic about celebrating their achievements.
