Pupils from Cromwell Community College enjoy trip to AstraZeneca Discovery Centre

Pupils from the Primary Phase at Cromwell Community College, enjoyed a trip to the Astra Zeneca Discovery Centre in Cambridge this week.

The Year 5 children had a tour of the state-of-the-art research and development facility located in the heart of the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

The children had a tour of the centre where they learnt about the medicine-making process, practicing pipetting skills - giving them a hands-on experience of science. They also met real scientists and explored some career paths in life sciences.

"The children thoroughly enjoyed the trip to AstraZeneca’s Discovery Centre and we were very proud of how well they represented our school.

“We hope that this trip will encourage many of them to consider taking up future careers in science and technology.”
Mrs Amber Dickinson, Primary Phase Science Lead

“We would like to thank AstraZeneca for making this such a special visit for our Year 5 pupils. It was incredible to hear about the wonderful questions they had about the medicine making process.

“At Cromwell Community College, we strive to help our pupils to become successful, respectful and confident learners and trips like this are very much a part of this.”

Claire Macdonald, Headteacher of Primary Phase
