Neale-Wade Remembers
The local community in March joined together at Neale-Wade Academy on Friday 7 November for a poignant remembrance event.
The service was attended by around 100 Neale-Wade students as well as local veterans and representatives from the local community.
Students gave moving speeches and readings in tribute to all of those who served, including reading the names of soldiers who were killed in action in World War One, World War Two, and in Afghanistan.
Neale-Wade Academy’s Rolls of Honour plaques include former student Corporal Lee Scott, who was killed while serving in Afghanistan in 2009.
A Year 10 student, Rose, played a moving rendition of the Last Post and Reveille, and wreaths were laid beneath the memorial plaques in the school hall.
The remembrance service was followed by refreshments, providing a chance for the school and wider community to reflect together.
“Remembrance will always be a significant moment in our school year. We are committed to continuing to honour the legacy of those who served so that they are never forgotten.
I am proud to see that our students share this commitment and understand the importance of keeping memories alive for future generations.
Thank you to all those who joined us for this community service.”
