Generous donation to Highfield Ely Academy from golf tournament

Highfield Ely Academy was honoured to receive a generous gift of £3,500 from the Burwell Cup charity golf tournament.

The golfers were keen to support the special needs school in memory of a former pupil there, Issy, who died last year.

The money raised will be spent on accessible playground equipment for the pupils at Highfield Ely.

“We are so honoured to receive this generous gift in memory of Issy, a dearly loved former pupil of Highfield who sadly passed away last year.

We would like to thank everyone at the Burwell Cup golf tournament. The thoughtfulness and support of the team mean a lot to our school community and we very much appreciate this generosity.”
Adam Daw, Headteacher

“It was a pleasure to raise funds for such an unbelievable local cause - it’s not just a golf day for us.

We’ll keep making the Burwell Cup bigger and better each year to continually raise money for amazing charities. We really hope that the funds have helped provide something that the school may not have budgeted for at the beginning of the year.”
Callum Eley, Burwell Cup Captain for the Burwell Ex-Service & Social Club
